Having started my career in the fitness industry in 1991, teaching fitness and within Leisure Management I have accumulated a wealth of experience helping people to look after mind and bodies both physically and emotionally. Over the years I have taught group exercise, specialised in teaching Pilates to an advanced level, and undertook a year long course to become a sports and remedial massage therapist. This was followed 5 years later specialising further as a Manual Lymphatic Drainage therapist for both Lymphoedema, Lipoedema, general surgery and other non-cancer conditions.
In 2021 I completed a three year long course to become a Bsc. chartered Physiotherapist and worked within Paediatric Physiotherapy until September 2024. I am now enjoying working with adults and Paediatrics in Trauma and Orthopaedics in an acute setting 2 days a week.. This has given be the chance to expand my private practice. I see clients on Monday, Tuesday, Wedneday and Saturday afternoons.
Being a keen sports person I have taken part in many swimming, road cycling and running events. I love nothing more than keeping active, either on my own, with my dogs or in a social setting.

From the first assessment you will find that I take a holistic evaluation of your condition, taking into account events from your past which may still be having an impact on how your body is operating at this present time. Both previous physical injuries and emotional events may influence the discomfort you are in now.
Having over 33 years of experience working with people, having had three children and from what I have physically experienced/am experiencing with my own body, I have developed a broad understanding of how to treat individual issues and see clients on their way to be being their best self.
I work alongside a number of Consultants and Health professionals who I refer to when needed.
Physiotherapy helps to restore movement and function when someone is affected by injury, illness or disability. It can also help to reduce your risk of injury or illness in the future.
It takes a holistic approach that involves the patient directly in their own care.
Physiotherapy can be helpful for people of all ages with a wide range of health conditions, including problems affecting the bones, joints and soft tissue – such as back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain and sports injuries
Physiotherapists consider the body as a whole, rather than just focusing on the individual aspects of an injury or illness.
Some of the main approaches used by physiotherapists include:
Massage treats the soft tissues of our bodies including muscles, fascia and tendons with the aim to speed up recovery, relieve pain and improve posture and movement. A range of techniques are used within the session to reduce the tension in the soft tissues. These include traditional massage, Soft tissue release, trigger point release, positional release, Muscle energy technique as well as movement based therapies. Techniques are chosen depending on the tissue involved as well as the patient.
Sports and Remedial Massage benefits everyone. For those involved in sport helping to prevent injuries before they occur to rehabilitation of specific muscle and tendon injuries. It is also a great way to prepare and recover from an event or improve your sporting performance.
Generally, massage therapists work with people from all walks of life with pain or dysfunction caused by life’s “stresses” and work related issues. For example back pain, poor posture and headaches can all be addressed with massage therapy.
A well qualified Sports and Remedial Massage Therapist has the knowledge of anatomy, injuries and illness to be able to work alongside Physiotherapists to support successful treatment. They are qualified to assess injuries, use advanced treatment techniques and provide remedial exercises and advice to support recovery.
Let’s also not forget that by working with you to relax your muscles massage can have a very calming and de-stressing effect. It helps your mind get into balance with your body.
Manual Lymph drainage (MLD), is a technique developed by the Vodders (Dr. Emil Vodder and his wife, Estrid) in 1936 in Paris for treatment of swollen lymph nodes.
Lymphatic diseases, especially lymphedema, represent a serious problem in the health community.
MLD is a light, skin-stretching massage that helps promote the movement of lymphatic fluid out of the swollen limb. It should not be confused with a traditional massage. MLD is specifically focused on the lymph vessels to help the flow of lymphatic fluid. Therapy is applied to your unaffected areas first, making it possible for the fluid to move out of the affected area, or “decongest” the region.
MLD helps open the remaining functioning lymph collectors and move protein and fluid into them, as well as to help speed up lymph fluid flow through the lymphatics.
Deep breathing techniques call diaphragmatic breathing are usually done at the beginning and end of a therapy session to help open the deep lymphatic pathways. It’s not only relaxing, but it helps increase movement of fluid toward the heart.
MLD:
The most appropriate techniques, optimal frequency and indications for MLD, as well as the benefits of treatment, all remain to be clarified, but the different methods have several aspects in common:
Mat pilates involves performing pilates exercises on the floor using a pilates, or yoga mat. Exercises in mat pilates can also involve basic pilates equipment such as a pilates ring, resistance band, or weighted balls. Mat pilates exercises are performed in a slow, controlled, precise manner and require an intense concentration. These exercises help strengthen the body's core by developing pelvic and scapula stability, and abdominal control, using focused breathing patterns. The main fitness goals of a mat pilates program include improved flexibility, muscle tone, body balance, spinal support, low back health, sports performance, and body-mind awareness.
